Students worked collaboratively with social studies classes to create a WWI themed newspaper. The newspaper was written from a news reporter's point of view. Students had to write in a way that incorporated nonfiction details with fictional writing.
What's next?
After students wrote their newspapers and created political comics, coupons, and newspaper names, they had to put newscast together. Students shortened their articles and created a newscast that was complete with commercials for products during the time period.
Their learning
Students were able to learn about writing for multiple audiences and public speaking!
During this project, students also communicated with students in Europe using Edmodo to better understand differing viewpoints of WWI.
